1100/1150 RS Testimonials |
| Dear Cee
Bailey's:
Thank
you for taking care of the credit on my account. I do wish
to
inform you that I received the correct windshield two weeks
ago. It is a
perfect fit and the performance is exactly what I expected.
Prior to
ordering from your company I spent a considerable amount of
time
inquiring as to which company made the best windshield for
a BMW
R1150RS. Time and again I read positive reviews about your
company and
its products. I wish to inform you that if anyone else should
ask, your
company will be the first and only one that I recommend.
Sincerely,
Christopher Doran

Received
the 4+H and 2+W for my R1150RS. Nice quality went on easily
and did
exactly what I wanted it to do, can ride with my faceshield
up and it has
less wind on the arms. Looks good on the bike too.
Thanks,
Barry

A
note about Cee Bailey's screen. I have one and its worked out
fine. It looks and fits like its from BMW, only its not blurry
and wavy like the stock model. I'm 5'6" and got the +2.
I think the +4 would have been better only due to the extra
width in rainy weather and possible noise reduction. I did run
the bike for about 20 miles at 80 mph with the screen fully
raised. The noise reduction was terrific, and again I look forward
to riding that way should the weather get skunky. I promised
c baily some shots of the screen and will forward them this
week. I've been having to mutch fun riding to take picture.
1700 miles and trying to cram in as many miles before it gets
too cold.

I installed
my light grey C-B screen (+4,+3) last week. Other than the mounting
holes being drilled too small it is a work of art. Beautifully
finished with smooth rounded edges. I ran it full up at 70mph
yesterday morning on the way to work with my visor open and
no sunglasses on. There was no wind in my face at all and I
had a clear view over the top of the screen. Not possible with
the stocker. I've also noticed less wind to my arms and chest
in the down position which is where I normally keep it. The
additional length has brought it closer to my face which results
in a smoother air flow and less buffeting. Very Nice. I'm going
to take an extended ride this coming Saturday and see how it
does.

| Installed
on Monday, finally had a chance to test this morning on the
interstate commute to work.
I have
the +2/+2 dimensions, I am 5' 8" with seat in lowest
position.
Protection,
noticeably more for upper torso and hands, should be a decent
cold weather shield.
Optics:
Distortion free for the most part. I look over the shield
but can crouch behind it and see no problem.
Noise:
I put the shield up to about 1-1.5 turns from lowest position
- I think that is about 1/3 incline from rest which is where
I run the stock shield. Anyway, at that position I have similar
noise to stock shield. I have the Schuberth which is notoriously
noisy so maybe that is also part of it.
I tested
higher positions by pushing on the shield while underway and
I can can get a quiet pocket but the shield will be tilted
up quite a bit. Deflection of the Cee Bailey shield itself
it minimal but the mounting mechanism does start to deflect
at speed as I have seen even with the OEM shield. I've never
liked that about the mount on the RS and I am not sure how
it will hold up over time with a large screen installed that
is run in the upper range of adjustment.
I'll test
some more with different positions and give more feedback.
Overall it is a nicely made piece of OEM quality.

Just got
my new Cee Bailey +7 (tall)/+8 (wide) windshield on Friday and
got to test it out today. I had not seen one this big before
and I was VERY hesitant to order it, but I was more concerned
about function than fashion. The windshield on the Cee Bailey
web site was close (+7/+6). Fortunately, it looks better than
I thought it would! The reason why I ordered this size is because
I plan to ride my bike throughout the winter and I wanted more
protection than my Aeroflow was giving me. I was also hoping
to decrease airflow noise over my helmet.
Other people have already talked about the quality of packing,
clarity, etc., so I won't repeat that because it is all top
notch. One minor item was the mounting holes. They didn't quite
line up perfectly with the mounting bracket holes. I didn't
have to do anything to them, though.
First of all, like I already said, I was concerned about how
this would look on the bike. IN MY OPINION, it looks pretty
decent. I think the smaller Cee Bailey windshields look better,
but it doesn't look that bad.
Next, I noticed a sound difference immediately when I left the
house. In the lower positions, there is a noticable difference.
When the shield is in the full up position, there is a huge
difference! As a matter of fact, the airflow barely touches
the top of my helmet in the full-up position and is very quiet.
I have to duck a couple of inches for it to be completely quiet,
though.
The other thing I noticed immediately was that the air was no
longer hitting my upper arms and shoulders. I thought for sure
the shape of the shield would leave my shoulders out in the
breeze, but it does not. As I was cruising down the road, I
moved my hand around the air pocket created by the windshield
and the air barely touches any part of me.
Here is a series of pictures that my wife took of me today.
FYI, I am 6' tall and have a 32" inseam. I left my gear
and helmet on to give an idea of how the windshield looks with
a rider on the bike. I thought I was pretty thorough with the
pix, but if someone is interested in another view, I can always
borrow a digital camera from work.
I can't say for sure yet, but I would probably NOT recommend
this size windshield for summer riding because it blocks too
much air. I'll probably go back to my Aeroflow for warmer weather
(too expensive to keep buying Cee Bailey windshields). If you're
looking for some cold weather protection, this does a nice job.
Cee Bailey does make a windshield +8.5" longer than stock.
Mine is almost too big and I would be a little skeptical of
the aesthetics with one that size.

| Just wanted
to add on to my original post. I spent quite a bit of time near,
and in the triple digits today - up to 115 mph and the windscreen
was rock solid. No flex/shake whatsoever. I was running it 4
clicks below full-up. The only movement comes from the windscreen
adjustment mechanism (which allows the windscreen to move anyway)
when in turbulent air.

| I have
a Cee Baileys screen and I love it. It's +4 wide and +2 high.
The quality is top notch and fit and finish is aircraft grade.
It fits perfectly and with the exception of the mounting holes
being drilled just a tick small (I reamed them out) everything
installed perfectly. It really looks great on the bike as well.
It generates a bit more noise but I wear ear plugs when riding
anyway.

Thanks
very much. I'm really happy that I got one of your windscreens
(at +2h/+4w) ... it has been excellent at 6 to 8 click high
all winter,
and I can lower it for summer.
Cheers.

Hello,
Wanted to give you some feedback on your windscreen fitted for
the BMW R1150RS. I write this because there is little customer
feedback for this particular model.
The version I ordered was 2" wider - 2" taller then
stock. The screen arrived on time - and was well packed, no
shipping damage. The screen fit perfectly and was installed
in about 15 min. Ride results are good. The light gray tint
is very light - basically clear. This allows the screen to be
elevated to max height and the rider can look through the screen
- with optical clarity, as promised. Buffeting experienced from
the stock screen has been eliminated, and wind/rain protection
is also increased when the screen is raised. The screen does
not alter the look of the bike - but offers noticeable improvements
in ridability and protection. There is slight movement from
the screen at speed - but its not from the material bending
- but from the mounting mechanism flexing. Well done ceebailey!
