Cee Bailey’s Aircraft Plastics, inc., has been in the aircraft/helicopter windshield and window business since 1955. We are one of three companies worldwide, that have hundreds of FAA approvals for the manufacture and distribution of aircraft window transparencies for many aircraft models in todays fleet, including Cessna, Piper, Hughes, Sikorsky, Beechcraft, Mooney, and many others.
Our motorcycle transparency line, uses the same identical acrylic, processes and procedures as our aircraft windshield manufacturing. We use aircraft grade acrylic for most applications, and highly modified impact acrylic for most headlight guards. Although there are many companies that can produce motorcycle windshields, not one of these can produce an article for an aircraft. All of our windshields, motorcycle and aircraft, go through rigorous processes, conceptual prototyping, mold flow designs, engineering, drawings, records, audits, inspections, etc., along the way before a product leaves our door. We can still accomplish all these steps and give the customer a high quality, aircraft grade product for their motorcycle at very reasonable prices.
We are riders and pilots ourselves. We always strive for a better, quieter windshield, and incorporate changes into our products to improve airflow characteristics in the design of each new product, much of it based on our engineering background in aviation windshield transparencies, and drag reduction. We will sometimes incorporate a NACA style vent feature into a windshield, because it will quiet(not on every shield) the resulting trailing edge airflow, giving the rider much less turbulence (quieter) than a shield without the vent. These vents are molded into the windshield, and have a built in ledge to them, that help keeps the air attached to the back of the shield, which helps in a more comfortable ride. We do not just cut holes into our windshields, as this only causes more noise and helmet turbulence for the rider and passenger, somewhat like cracking open a car window at highway speeds, leading to hearing discomfort along with inherent head shaking.
