The long awaited NT700V windshield is now available in three unique sizes for all riders. We have made small adjustments to the windshield, based on riders observations. The OEM shields get very noisy as you raise the windshield. This causes a larger gap between the fairing and the lower portion of the shield, which directs more turbulent ram air pressure towards the rider, not to mention water, bugs, and other debris. The less you raise the windshield, the less noise and turbulence you get. We made our windshields to work on that principle, by having a taller windshield, you will not need to raise it much, thus, less noise and turbulence. Our windshield then becomes quieter than the factory shield, as we used subtle contouring and added glass area to direct and divert the airflow away and around the rider, which resulted in a quieter and less turbulent ride for both the rider and passenger. We do not use a full NACA vented shield, as our production windshield works well with no vent and the stock factory fairing by allowing air to attach itself to the trailing edge of the shield for a more laminar like flow. Road tests have proven to be conclusive; an excellent air pocket that generates good protection at all speeds. Our vented test shields made more noise and created more turbulence, so we do not offer it, and do not recommend it.
The stock OEM size in the USA is 15", when measured from the top of the shield down to the top of the headlight cutout. It is about 18" wide. Our windshield width is just slightly wider.
We manufacture all of these windshields from our aircraft quality, impact resistant acrylic. This is the same identical glass that we use to build our FAA approved aircraft windshields and windows. The thickness of the NT700V windshield is .187. All windshields are hand thermoformed and then annealed, and each windshield is individually hand sanded, them hand buffed to a brilliant luster, including the edges and holes of each shield. This is a painstaking and time consuming process, but for the consumer it not only creates a beautiful shield, but all stress risers from the CNC cutting of the shield are completely eliminated, lessening any chance of vibration cracks.
