BMW R1200GS “Elephant Ears” Rally Guard Covers

When we ride our “elephant ear” equipped R1200GS with other GS riders, they always ask, “Why do you need those when you already have heated grips and factory guards?” Then we let them ride our bike and the answer becomes apparent. The elephant ears offer added protection and warmth for the whole wrist and forearm, and help to deflect air distribution upwards and out away from the rider, when used with our enhanced windshield protection system and wind wings. With the elephant ears in place, we rarely use the high setting on the heated grips, the low setting work great when used in conjunction with the elephant ears. As a GS rider, you already know that the high setting, when used with certain gloves, creates too much heat for the inside of your fingers and forepalm. When using the elephant ears on the low setting, you can keep your whole hand and wrist relatively warm and comfortable, without having to switch between high and low settings.

These are probably not for all GS riders, but if you ride year-round, in cold climates, or cold mornings, you will notice the benefit right away. Plus, we made these specifically for the 1200GS, so they fit great, and when the day heats up, you can take them off in seconds, store them flat in your system or tank bag, and ride away. They go on just as easy.

We manufacture these in-house, they are made of General Electric polycarbonate, with a durable polyester facing. We sew the webbing, edge binding and add 3M Velcro for securing them on your factory rally guards. They will work with all gloves, thick to thin.
