V-Strom Testimonials |
Hi there,
I just want to pass on my compliments to your new "perfect strom" windscreen. I prefer a bike setup that cuts through the wind with no noise or turbulence, and your product does this flawlessly. There is virtually no wind anywhere around the face or helmet, but there is plenty of cooling air coming up and around making for an amazing balance. The light tint looks great yet doesn't obscure vision even at night.
I highly recommend that anyone who loves the 'strom except for the annoying wind from the stock screen consider the easy swap out with the cee bailey.
Sincerely,
Robert Nathanson |

Hello, I recently purchased a windscreen for my new Suzuki V-strom 1000. I went with the 21.5 clear model. I am very impressed with the performance of this windscreen. Visibility is excellent and it cuts thru the air like a knife! The wind noise is substantially less, Now I can ride without wearing earplugs. Thanks for manufacturing such a great product.
Sincerely,

I have a 2005 Suzuki V-Strom 650. I love the bike but could not get the stock windshield in a decent position. No matter where I put it, I had helmet buffeting that would bother me over a few hours. I am 6'0" and wear a Shoei X-11 helmet. I ordered and installed your 23.5" clear screen at the lowest position. It is perfect. I can see over it while riding and the noise reduced substantially. I can hear the engine now and the buffeting is gone completely. I was skeptical that a new windscreen would help me but it made a large improvement. Its like a different bike now.
I am going to order one of your windshield for me ST1300 now. The stock one isn't bad, especially beings it moves electrically, but the V-Strom was such an improvement I look forward to the Cee Bailey screen on my ST.

Just wanted
to let you know I received the windscreen for my 2002 Vstrom
(26", the Plus 10" model). I told your salesman my
height and he
recommended the Plus 10 screen. I can see over it when looking
down the
road and sitting straight up, or if I slouch a bit and I can
look through
it to get out of the weather or bugs.
The screen
arrived in excellent shape, installed very easy and most
important works great. No more wind noise, it 's so quiet
it is eerie.
There is no comparison to the stock screen or even when I
cut down the
stock screen to reduce wind noise. It makes the bike much
more enjoyable
to ride. Of course the protection from the cold weather is
another plus. I
think I will leave it on all the time even for short rides
and in hot
weather.
On your
website you show pictures of the tall screen mounted on the
fairing. It does look tall and kind of unnatural especially
compared to
the look of the stock screen . However, when you see it on
the bike in
relation to the whole bike, it looks much better.

Comfort
Shield for VStrom 650
Just a note to let you know that your screen has made 110% difference
in the comfort level of riding an already great mahcine. The
buffeting is gone and the noise level is like riding in a convertible.
Before I couldn't hear the engine unless I was running in the
high rpm's; now I can hear it perfectly. Thanks to your great
work and design I have the perfect adventure touring machine.....

Dear Cee
Baileys,
Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for developing the
22" vented screen for my V Strom. For me at 5' 9"
it couldn't be better. I tried Suzuki's tall screen on a 3,500
mile trip to Tuscon last spring. The turbulance was so bad I
lost the visor on my helmet and had a a wierd spaced out feeling
for several days after the trip.
I installed your screen shortly after and what a difference!
It made the V Strom a pleasure to ride. No more loose visor
screws and I don't feel like somebody slipped me something in
my drink after a long ride.
Thanks again,

Got
my +12" screen Thursday and bolted it on. It fit perfectly
and I
was thrilled to see that it was optically perfect, unlike my
stock
BMW K1200LT screen which was has interesting fun house mirror
effects.
I set
out on a 320 mile ride Friday morning and was amazed at the
total lack of helmet buffeting and dramatic reduction in wind
noise.
I'm 6' and don't mind looking thru the shield, by the way.
I was
cruising with a quartering head wind at 80-90 with no discomfort.
I guess
I will now have to add a mount for my Valentine V1 --
speeding wasn't a problem before, because with the either
the stock
sheild or with the higher Suzuki shield I couldn't stand to
go faster
than 60.

I agree.
I have had a tall Cee-Bailey on my bike for a week. I was
initially shocked by the size of it. The first time I rode the
bike, though I was amazed by how great a job it does.
I am 5'11"
and I initially was thinking of cutting it down. I found
that at my height I would have to cut it down considerably
in order
to see over the shield. I would have to cut off about 4"
and the
shield would still look about the same. I would then have
a tall
shield which didn't work as well, and looked about the same.
I
would then be getting helmet buffeting - not good. I decided
to
leave it as is.
This shield
is optically the best shield I have ever used. It is
much clearer plastic than the stock shield and it has virtually
no
distortion. I have gone ahead and ordered ears from laminarlip.
I
am no longer hung up on what it looks like. Function has won
out
over form.
In the
summer months, I will put on the stock shield. In the
winter - the Cee Bailey with the ears. I really don't care
what it
looks like.(and to tell you the truth the looks of the tall
CB is
growing on me.) The biggest minuses are that my Suzuki bike
cover
probably doesn't fit any more and I will have to adjust my
mirrors
to clear the screen. In return, I get a bike that I prefer
over a
Gold Wing on the highway. (I know - I have ridden them). It
makes
the Vstrom into a very capable touring bike.
In the
winter, without the wind blast, I can ride without heavy or
heated clothing. It adds capabilities to the bike which it
didn't
have previously.

| i put 150
miles on with the hunny yesterday. we love the new +8"
Cee Bailey shield. it's not so high that it looks funny and
it works great. i had 2 different people checking out my bike
yesterday, one guy knew all about the bike and we rode each
others bikes(Goldwing). he loved it! i ordered the ears which
i think will make it perfect. neither of us had any head buffeting
at all. looking through it is the same as looking over it ,
it's crystal clear. and there's a certain spot that has almost
complete silence. this shield was truly worth the money. joe

I ordered
a CB +8 on 16 June. It arrived in CO today. 12 days, not
bad.
It fit
perfectly, and is optically excellent. I am 5'9" with
a 32"
inseam. The top of the windshield was exactly in my line of
sight.
If I slouch, I look through the shield. If I sit very upright,
I look
over it. I usually slouch alittle. I will probably belt sand
about .75" off the top. I have an overnighter planned
this weekend to
check it out and see if that is what I really want to do.
My initial
ride shows that wind management is pretty good, for me.
Buffeting was minimal and noise was almost nonexistant, with
earplugs. It's funny how when you knock the wind off your
upper body,
you really notice it on your legs and forearms. Not that there's
anything wrong with that, it's just became very noticeable.
More later,
but for now, I'd say it's a keeper!

Installed
the Cee Bailey +12 this evening. I had heard there were
some issues with build quality, finish, etc. - but I for one
must say
that the item I received was first rate. Edges were smooth and
precise and the installation was a perfect fit. I couldn't have
asked for it to go more smoothly. As far as the ride... I'm
going
to be happy. It cuts the buffeting and the noise seriously but
doesn't take away all the breeze. For me it will be a good choice.
I'm 6'2" with approx 33-34 inseam. If I sit straight up
I can just
see over the top about 1-2 inches (which is what I wanted).
Looking
through the glass is not bad though. There seems to be minimal
(if
any) distortion and certainly no worse that the Suzuki Tall
that I
had. Count me among the satisfied. BTW, now I can actually
appreciate the sound of the V-Twin exhaust WHILE I'm riding
<g>!!!

I ordered
a clear CB +10 (26") windscreen from their site on June
23rd and received the product on July 1st. They have a pretty
good
order entry system that lets you know when the product is shipped
(via email) and they include the tracking number. The CB is
manufactured well and had no defects.
Installation:
Pretty much a breeze (no pun intended). Remove the
two 3mm screws on the front cowling with an Allen tool, slide
the
stock windshield out and then slide the CB in. I needed to
put a
soapy solution on the edges of the CB to get it to slide in
just
right. As indicated in other posts, there are rubber grommets
around
the screw holes that you should be aware as you slide the
CB into
place. If this whole operations takes you more than 15 minutes,
you
should not be driving a motorcycle. The CB packing material
is great
for protecting the stock Suzy windshield.
I am 6'0'
with a 32" inseam and wear a Shoei RF800 full-face helmet.
Before:
With the stock short Suzy windshield, I had lots of loud wind
noise and turbulence at speeds over 45MPH (indicated). I can
only
hear the engine when tucked down behind the screen (crouch
rocket
position). Sitting up, my helmet really catches the wind when
doing
head checks before lane changes. There is lots of turbulence
around
my arms.
After:
Sitting straight up with chin up, I can see over the CB
easily. In a more relaxed bent back position; I am looking
through
the CB. No more noise around my head. I really have to get
my butt
up off the seat a few inches get in a loud wind flow. At 75MPH
(indicated), I can still hear the purr of the engine. Behind
the
screen is pretty calm and serene though there is some pleasant
movement of air. There is still about the same amount of turbulence
on my arms with the CB. I will consider the Laminar Lips to
fix
this.
Conclusion:
I like the CB. I think I picked the right size for my
height and driving needs. The +12 would have been too tall
for me
to see over and the +8 not tall enough.
The CB does not really do anything for the looks of the bike.
Small
children still run away and cry when they see my ugly bike
(or is it
me?). If you are going for looks, nix on the CB. On the other
hand, it works.

The +12
1/4" is the solution for me. Buffeting gone; I can hear
the
motor; and I can ride with the face shield up. Over the screen,
I
can't see the road closer than 150' but looking through the
screen
is not obnoxious. I might trim it in a month or so after more
miles.
I'm 6'1"
and long trunked. I've tried the Laminar LIP and EARs with
the stock screen and with the Suzuki tall screen. The Laminar
products helped a lot with both screens but the screens weren't
tall
enough.
BTW, those
who say that noise and buffeting are part of the MC
experience and if you don't like it you should drive a cage
either
haven't experienced these qualities or haven't got their bikes
sorted out yet.
I have
put many miles on sport bikes with my head and upper
shoulders in the wind stream. With smooth air flow there is
no
buffeting and the noise is a not unpleasent form of speed
indicator.
For many (most?) of us the Vstrom in stock configuration does
not
supply that smooth air flow.
